DESCRIPCIÓN DE TRABAJO CON JUSTICIA MIGRANTE

Coordinador/a

Sobre Justicia Migrante: Fundado en 2010, Justicia Migrante organiza en la comunidad de trabajadores agrícolas inmigrantes de Vermont para los derechos humanos y la justicia económica. Mediante visitas a ranchos, asambleas comunitarias y la educación popular — y a través de redes de solidaridad con comunidades aliadas — la organización desarrolla el poder, capacidad, y voz de la comunidad para avanzar campañas de acción colectiva. Estructura: Justicia Migrante es dirigida por el Comité de Coordinación, un grupo de trabajadores líderes representando cada asamblea regional. La organización contrata personal para avanzar las estrategias y metas establecidas por el Comité. El personal está estructurado en forma horizontal, con cada miembrx liderando y apoyando diferentes áreas de trabajo. La Junta de Apoyo ayuda al personal en el desempeño de su plan de trabajo.

Responsabilidades de la Posición: Se busca un/a coordinador/a para unirse al equipo personal. El enfoque de la posición es flexible y será finalizado según los intereses, habilidades y experiencias de la persona. Las responsabilidades incluirán una mezcla de 2-3 de los siguientes elementos:

1. Comunicaciones: Crear y transmitir comunicaciones hacia audiencias distintas por medio del sitio web, emails, medios sociales, y comunicación con la prensa
2. Desarrollo: Coordinar las estrategias de recaudo de fondos, manejando relaciones con fundaciones, donantes e instituciones
3. Campañas de No Más Discriminación: Coordinar varias campañas relacionadas a los derechos de inmigrantes (incluso las campañas estatales y locales contra la polimigra, campañas públicas para liberar a compas detenidxs por inmigración, y actividades contra el abuso de la migra) mediante la creación colectiva de estrategias, la movilización de aliadxs, y comunicación con blancos
4. Desarrollo de Liderazgo y Educación Popular: Apoyar a lxs organizadores de campo en la implementación de los sistemas de desarrollo de liderazgo, incluyendo la creación de materiales y currículos de educación popular

Trabajará desde las oficinas de Justicia Migrante en Burlington, VT Cualidades y Experiencia:

• Tener 3+ años de experiencia combinada en organizaciones comunitarias, grupos estudiantiles, centros laborales y/o sindicatos
• Tener experiencia relevante en 2-3 de las áreas de trabajo
• Ser completamente bilingüe (inglés/español), con destrezas profesionales de redacción
• Tener el compromiso de trabajar en estructuras horizontales y la habilidad de crear e implementar su propio plan de trabajo y horario
• Tener un análisis y compromiso de trabajar en contra de todas las formas de opresión y por la liberación colectiva
• Ser motivadx, responsable, confiable, flexible y humilde
• Tener una licencia de conducir y acceso a un auto, y poder manejar distancias largas en comunidades rurales y durante el invierno

Salario y beneficios

• Salario: más de $48,000 por año

STAFF COORDINATOR

About Migrant Justice: Founded in 2010, Migrant Justice organizes within a community of immigrant farmworkers in Vermont for human rights and economic justice. Through farm visits, community assemblies and popular education – and by building networks of solidarity with allied communities – Migrant Justice develops the power, capacity and voice of the community to advance campaigns through collective action. The organization is currently focused on campaigns for immigrant rights (including deportation defense and policies against police-ICE collaboration) and campaigns for labor and housing rights (including on-farm organizing and the expansion of the Milk with Dignity Program). Structure: Migrant Justice is led by a Farmworker Coordinating Committee, a group of workers representing each regional assembly. The organization hires staff to advance the strategies and goals established by the Coordinating Committee. The staff is structured as a collective, with each staff member leading and supporting different and overlapping work areas. An Advisory Board supports staff in carrying out their workplans.

Work Responsibilities: Migrant Justice is hiring a staff coordinator to join the team. The position’s focus is flexible and will be finalized based on the interests, abilities and experience of the hire. Responsibilities will include a mix of 2-3 of the following elements:

1. Communications: Create and share organizational communications to distinct audiences through the website, email, social media and press.
2. Development: Coordinate fundraising strategies, including through relationship-building with foundations, donors and supporting institutions
3. Immigrant Rights Campaigns: Coordinate several campaigns related to immigrant rights

– including local and statewide campaigns against police-ICE collaboration, public campaigns for release of detained community members, and other activities against abuses carried out by immigration enforcement – through the collective strategy development, ally mobilization, and engagement with campaign targets

4. Leadership Development and Popular Education: Support community organizers in the implementation of leadership development systems, including through the creation of popular education materials and curricula

Staff position will be based out of Migrant Justice’s office in Burlington, VT.

Candidate Background and Experience:

• Have 3+ years of combined experience in community organizations, student groups, workers centers, and/or labor unions
• Have 2-3 years of relevant experience in some of the above work areas
• Be fully English/Spanish bilingual, with professional writing skills in English
• Possess a commitment to working in a horizontal structure and an ability to create and carry out your own work-plan and schedule
• Demonstrate an analysis and commitment to work against all forms of oppression and towards collective liberation
• Be motivated, responsible, trustworthy, flexible and humble
• Have a driver’s license and access to a vehicle, with the ability to drive long distances in rural communities in inclement weather

Salary and Benefits

• Salary: $48,000+/yr
