Sarah Newell

Sarah Newell is the Director of Transnational Strategies for the Worker-Driven Social Responsibility Network. Prior to joining the WSR Network staff, Sarah was Communications and Campaign Coordinator for the International Labor Rights Forum (ILRF), a human rights organization dedicated to advancing dignity and justice for workers in the global economy. While at the ILRF, they campaigned in support of Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh, a legally-binding agreement between workers and apparel brands to make factories safe. In addition, Sarah worked as a union organizer with SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, and later the American Association of University Professors. They are a graduate of the University of Southern California.

Rafaela Rodriguez

Rafaela Rodriguez is the Director of Partnerships at the Worker-driven Social Responsibility Network. Prior to joining the WSR Network staff, Rafaela worked for over seven years in various national and international settings as an advocate working alongside human-trafficking survivors, migrants, and undocumented communities. In 2016, she supported the implementation of the second national WSR-Program in the dairy industry in Vermont and New York. She helped develop the Milk with Dignity Standards Council, the third-party monitor responsible for implementation of the Milk with Dignity Program, bringing dignified living conditions to farmworkers. Rafaela is a graduate of the University of California Berkeley and obtained her master’s degree in Social Welfare at the Luskin School of Public Affairs at UCLA.

Anna Canning

Anna Canning is the Director of Communications for the Network. Prior to joining the WSR Network staff, she was Campaign Manager for Fair World Project, a watchdog of ethical certifications. There she led creative campaigns against corporate fairwashing of human rights abuses based on in-depth analysis of fair trade and other certification standards. Anna has over 15 years of experience working in supply chains and in movements for food justice and human rights.
