Agreements to End Gender-Based Violence in Lesotho: 2021-2022 Report

This report details the ongoing process of implementing the groundbreaking Anti-Gender-Based Violence and Harrasment Program at Nien Hsing, established in 2020 through landmark agreements based on the Worker-driven Social Responsibility model.

Three years into the implementation of the program, major strides have been made to root out Gender-Based Violence and Harrasment (GBVH), progress achieved in spite of the enormous challenges generated by the Covid-19 pandemic – factory shutdowns, reduced orders and workforce size, and health-related barriers to conducting in-person trainings. The path toward eliminating GBVH and achieving genuine cultural shifts when broader patriarchal norms exist requires time, yet the impacts of the program to date are substantial and have created a safer environment for women workers at the Nien Hsing facilities.
